Shua Group rehearsals

Here are some interesting photos I took of the shua group rehearsals.

Panoramic shot of performers:

On October 11, 2008, we arrived to Federal Hill in Baltimore city at 2:00 pm. At the performance site we were given step by step instructions on what we had to do. The rehearsal started out with a call to of “entrance” were the performers enter the performance space, which was a climb up at the top of federal hill located next to a light pole seen in the picture above. The next step was a call to “intersect” were performers imitate the actions of another and fluidly move on to another imitation or a free movement of choice. Next, was a call to ”meeting” were performers walk by other performers and hold their hand in a fluid motion like a hand shake. Just as quickly as both performers lock hands they detach and walk on to other performers. This cycle repeats it’s self for a time period, until the next call is given. The next step was to make all performers line up at the edge of the hill, with their hands raised straight up above their heads. Soon after performers descend down the hill maintaining a straight line until they converge at a side walk just below. On the side walk performer pace back and forth spanning the width of the hill, all are allowed to walk, run or make a tangent dash partly up the hill and back down again to the sidewalk, then resumes any of the three specified actions. During this time period, a whisper uttered by one of the instructors resonates to all performers walking by, which means that every performer should around to the other side of the hill away from the current performance site. Now split up in two separate groups on opposing sides of the hill, instructors give a signal for the performers to crawl up the hill around to the top of the last performance site. Later on every performer soon sits down, then lay flat on their backs next they clump together in small groups. Next, Performers slowly crawl to the center of the hill after clumping together for some time period. At the center of the their is a photo shot initiated by the call “go”, where everyone makes a pose, soon followed by the word “release”, where those that still want to take photograph stay and others that don’t exit the performance space. The final step comes in the form of everyone aligns themselves at the edge of the hill again, but now holding their hands, forming a human chain. Next, one of the instructor raises up their hands to the sky and all performers follow suit. All performers exit the space by slowing walking back uniformly, which concluded the performance rehearsal at 4:00 pm .

I really enjoyed this experience, not only was It was fun it was a good workout to. I liked the scenery of the Pataspsco river and the baltimore inner harbor from a distance, it was a unique and vibrate sight to see. I was even surprised to see two separate groups of newly weds coming to take professional photographs with the scenery. I am glad to have had this on hand experience out of class.

VC3 Project 2 – picture of grass

“Morning Dew on grass”
pic

This is a picture of the grass on my lawn taken just as the sun was rising. I felt that the dew on the grass would give a prism like ambient effect of colors to contrast the monotonous green color of the grass. I appreciate the beauty of nature more with photos like this.
